SlimTimer: It's been too long

Posted by Richard White Sun, 11 Feb 2007 19:53:00 GMT

After a bit of a hiatus, I’ve released a number of long awaited improvements:

  • Popup calendar for Edit Entries
  • Users filter for reports
  • Snapshot of total time logged per day on Edit Entries
  • Autocomplete for tags on the SlimTimer client (bonus: all autocompleters are now much much faster and more responsive)

... and stay tuned for information on some some big news about some upcoming major additions to SlimTimer.

It’s good to be back.

Good to hear it’s still actively developed. I’m definitely looking forward to the major additions you mentioned!

  2. Colin said about 10 hours later:

Very nice modifications. I think that snapshot-of-time is going to be used frequently.

User filter very nice. With bubbles I’m all set. Can’t live without this great app! Thank you for your efforts, one of the few business-focused, simple, yet powerful apps in web 2.0 land. Not just eye candy, but real GTD for everyone. Hoot.

  4. Mark said about 20 hours later:

    Thx Richard.

Now that there is the calendar browse for entries this is handsdown my timetracker app of choice!!

  5. Andrew Jung said about 20 hours later:

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Not having the calendar was driving me nuts. Glad to have it.

Suggest removing the “Having a mini-calendar for navigation?” request from the Edit entries page as you already have it.

Also the calendar link is a bit hidden. Would be great to actually have a mini-calendar icon or something beside the date so that we know it is there. I had to come back to this page to find out how to launch it. So it is not obvious enough.

    Cheers and thanks. Andrew.

After using it for a bit, is there any way to have the calendar always showing, like below the “Request a feature” box? That would be best I think. What do other’s think? -aj

Very nice. Keep up the good work, Richard!

  9. David Gardner said 1 day later:

Wonderful updates! I love the total time snapshot on the daily “Edit Entries” screen. Thanks for all your hard work!

  10. Andre Lewis said 1 day later:

Nice enhancements Richard. If I could just filter by both tasks and tags together in reports, I’d be set :-)

  11. Richard White said 1 day later:

Andre: I forgot about that request of yours so thanks for reminding me, I’ll see what can be done.

  12. Nicholas Kerzman said 1 day later:

Very nice, very nice indeed. It’s great to see the new features and exciting! Thanks for your continued commitment and development efforts. This is a great application. The calendar was a must have, the total time and entries is a nice new feature as well. Thanks again!

  13. Arne Völker said 2 days later:

Great. Brutally fast autocompletion now, makes the feature worth working with, i’m very pleased. But with Safari, autocompletion still is no pleasure – since hitting TAB will end up in completing the tag, but leaving the cursor at exactly the same position as it was before hitting TAB (e.g. at the beginning of the word bi-llable, when hitting TAB after the bi) . Do you really mean to force me into Firefox?

  14. ALex Le said 3 days later:

I love SlimTimer. I use it on a daily basis. I have already clocked in hundreds of hours and was able to run report whenever I need to bill the clients.

Keep up the good work. I think you should really focus on expanding SlimTimer and make a pro, paid version of the app. I’ll pay for it in a heartbeat. In fact, have a donation link on SlimTimer client… you’ll be surprised.

    Regards,

    Alex

  15. rory said 3 days later:

The only other feature I think I could possibly want is batch update of time entries. So for ex, I tag time entries as “billable”, and then at the end of the month after I run a report (and make my invoices in some other software) I’d like to batch tag all of those as “invoiced”. Just to keep track of what I’ve already done. But thanks again! Love the site.
